They had a great win last night. It’s still pre-season, but they seem to be doing well. I hope they keep it up. We need a winning Bears team here – now!

I have suffered, moaned, groaned, and swore over the unfortunate patch of “roadway” on Harlem Avenue between Oakton Street and Dempster Street in Niles (I suspect I am not alone.) I have despised this patch over patch over patch over patch for years. Every year, I can see new asphalt patches down the street, but [...]

Today is my favorite day of the year for listening to classical music. Plenty of fireworks are played. Today is Johannes Brahms’ (176) and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s (169) birthdays.
These two are definately in my top five list of favorite composers. 1812 Overture? 4 fantastic symphonies from Mr. Brahms? (they need to be played more!) [...]

If I had to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, I’d want this guy to be my pilot. Bravo.
The guy who made me listen to talk radio…Nick Digilio

To me, talk radio has meant politics (snore) or winning a free meal to fill-in-the-blank restaurant radio sponsor (ooh, do I get a free shrimp cocktail with that too?! zzzz) Not interesting. Boring. Dull. Time to switch to music if I ever accidentally get on one of those stations – thank God for presets.
Well, for [...]
Cubs divisional champs again!

The Cubs have won their division again…second time in two years. I have deliberately not gotten sucked in this year like I did last year. I’m glad they won again. They need to win two rounds of playoffs. If they get to round two, I’m going to be sucked in.
Go Cubs Go!
The war still rages, but a battle has been won!

Weight and I have been in a war for a long time. Most of the time, it wins and I acknowledge its superior status by stuffing my face in defeat. Tastes good, more filling (and fattening). Well, I had official confirmation today (the doctor office’s scale never lies) - I set a goal and for the first [...]
Sometimes I can actually figure something out…

I had a nice ego booster today. I managed to fix a plumbing problem using the old noggin. Sometimes my brain serves me well. I could use a lot more servings of wellness, but an ego boost every now and then does a body good. I’m no plumber and I’m sure as heck not that [...]
Finally some good airline news…

This article made me happy:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-mxa0713pilotsjul13,0,4724428.story
The article discusses an United airline pilot who goes the extra mile (haha). I’ve seen pilots greet passengers when they depart the plane, but this pilot does a lot more. He’ll actually go into the plane and talk to passengers, discuss why a plane is being delayed, go into the [...]

I had bookmarked the Techdirt (a tech consulting firm) blog and hadn’t looked at in awhile. Shame on me. When I initially bookmarked it, it looked like an intelligent, not too jargony blog about how technology and the internet are evolving. I just looked at it this morning and got smart – I RSSed it to [...]
