My annual summer rant…

As summer drags on, the humidity hangs along with it. As mentioned previously, I HATE humidity. Warm-blooded people don’t handle it well. Even in the dead of February, baby me was a little furnace, according to my mom, whose arm was always dripping after holding her baby furnace. I’ve continued to be a mini-furnace ever since. Sometimes I [...]

Weather rant

It has been raining for four hours straight – not predicted. Enough with the rain already. Nearly 2 feet of rain so far this year…GRUMBLE. The crab can hopefully go burrow back into the sand soon…if it isn’t too soggy…

At 10:30 a.m. on Groundhog Day, Tumbleweed Groundhog at the Brookfield Zoo awoke to find a group of guests waiting to find out if she would see her shadow! Tumbleweed did see her shadow, predicting 6 more weeks of winter!
If Tumbleweed had been named Rod, we could have fixed it and blotted out the sun. [...]

Nirvana in January…

38 degrees…sun and no snow…the kitchen ice dam has slowed to a trickle instead of a constant stream of water pouring through the woodwork…cool tunes blasting in my ear…a glass of wine…aaaaaaaahhhh…

With nearly 40 inches of lovely snow in two months, the time-honored tradition of saving parking spots is in full force. Here are some extra special spot holders (from the Chicago Tribune):

(There was also a walker (!), but I couldn’t find that photo.) I’m sure there is a kitchen sink on a city street, somewhere…
