I’ve had some thoughts and ideas and haven’t had the energy to write them down in an attempt to connect the dots. I always have lulls on this thing, so eventually the marinating will pay off (for me, anyway). I don’t think I’m too far away from that.

Cubs divisional champs again!
Posted in Uncategorized, tagged bravo, Cubs on September 20, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
The Cubs have won their division again…second time in two years. I have deliberately not gotten sucked in this year like I did last year. I’m glad they won again. They need to win two rounds of playoffs. If they get to round two, I’m going to be sucked in.
Go Cubs Go!
Responsibility is such a lonely word…

CEOs of financial institutions are suppose to be responsible – to their employees and their shareholders (if their companies are publicly traded.) It turns out that these CEOs should be responsible to me, too, if their companies are publicly traded. Thanks to irresponsible CEO oversight over collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs), my investments suffered a hell of a [...]

Adversity makes the person…

One day after strutting like a peacock, I’m dealing with more adversity. I am really finding that how someone deals with adversity tells you exactly who that person is. I’ve had some practice lately with dealing with adversity, and that ironically is giving me some comfort. I don’t like adversity. I don’t seek it out. [...]
The war still rages, but a battle has been won!
Posted in Uncategorized, tagged bravo, weight on September 12, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
Weight and I have been in a war for a long time. Most of the time, it wins and I acknowledge its superior status by stuffing my face in defeat. Tastes good, more filling (and fattening). Well, I had official confirmation today (the doctor office’s scale never lies) - I set a goal and for the first [...]
Highway Robbery: Conferences, Conference Centers, and Conference Hotels

I’m slowly making my way through the comments to this post: http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2008/09/highway-robbery.html
Mr. Eastman, who authors this blog, is always on top of what’s happening in the genealogy world, whether it be new products or new records coming on line. This post is spot on. National genealogy conferences cost a lot of money. I’ve been to [...]
Da Bears

How about dem Bears?! Maybe they’ll get it together this year. We need a team that menaces other teams, not a team that wanders into a suburban yard and swims in the pool and lays in the hammock.
Bear down Chicago Bears!
A big jigsaw puzzle…

I’ve been finding it difficult lately to really pin myself down. I know bits and pieces about myself, but the cohesive whole is eluding me. And sometimes those bits and pieces are put in their own compartments, which also doesn’t help in creating a whole picture. Plus the gap between reality and hope for the [...]
Can’t do anything after the “end of summer”…
Posted in media, tagged rant on September 2, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
And technically, summer doesn’t end until September 22nd. Everybody is reminding everybody that summer’s over and not to waste the last few drops of it. I say, what about January 1? Is that not the first day of the new year, ripe with possibilities because it’s a clean slate?! But it’s cold then, so how [...]
